INTRODUCTION

The volunteers’ onboarding commenced with the program manager [Adeleye Adeola] who was the moderator for the programme instructed the volunteers to register their name with their respective locations as she welcomed the volunteers into the organization and explained the agenda for the onboarding programme. Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation (TGED foundation) team introduced themselves to the volunteer starting from the content team to the program team and finally the advisory council and the Founder of the organization. The CEO/Founder of TGED Foundation Ms. Oluwaseyi Ebenezer welcomed the volunteers into the team and admonishes everyone to know that they are part of the team irrespective of their various locations. She further congratulated them on their successful applications as over 60 applications were received, and she is excited to welcome onboard the qualified and passionate individuals who will push the organization into achieving greater results through their expertise. 

PRESENTATIONS

MISS. ADELEYE ADEOLA [the Program Manager TGED Foundation] introduced Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation (TGED Foundation) as a not-for- profit organization stating the vision and mission of the organization. She also mentioned the core values and code of conducts of the organization and emphasized that all volunteers are o abide by the organization’s core values and code of conduct as everyone is now a representative of the organization in their respective locations. She also went further to highlight the several projects and achievements made by the organization and admonished every volunteer to follow the organization social media pages as well as like, comment and share every activity and project by the organization on their individual social media pages.

Miss. Hamzat Bukola representing the content team introduced the importance and need for creating good content highlighting the expectations from the content team and the various form of content which could be in graphics, quote, blog-post, newsletters, research findings.  

Mr. Adewumi Paul representing the social media team introduced the volunteers on the need to understand the various importance and target audience on each social media platform- Facebook, Instagram, twitter and LinkedIn as well as the reasons why regular engagement on social media pages is important. He further highlighted the call to action for the social media team volunteer which includes; real-time reporting of activities on social media platforms, creation of engaging post and to build more online presence by liking, sharing and commenting on all social media post.

PAST VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

The 2023 volunteers shared their experiences since they started volunteering for TGED Foundation: 

• TIMILEHIN ILESANMI started that since he joined TGED Foundation, the organization has been awesome and adventurous. First, he learnt a lot about the environment and climate change. Apart from nuclear warheads, climate change is actually one of the imminent threats to human existence today. He said he did not care much about these things before he joined the organization. He further said by engaging in the organization’s activities, he got to realize the astounding importance of the things done in the organization. Participating actively gave him a strong sense of purpose and importance. In conclusion, he said his experience has been adventurous – a mix of difficulty and enthusiasm. Through his experience however, he has learnt what it really means to be committed, focused and responsible. Thou it is not easy. But for him, there is this excitement and grace that comes with volunteering. And trusting him, till date he his glad that he committed himself to it.
• BUKOLA HAMZAT said she joined the foundation initially to increase her volunteering experience but after being in the foundation for over a year, she can say it has been a wonderful journey. She has exponentially improved her skills as a content writer and gained insightful experience since she joined the organization, and she is grateful for this opportunity.

• FELIX FANAN in his experience speech said volunteering is a wholesome experience that helps you to discover yourself. At the beginning of the program, he was just joining because he thought he needed something to while away time but during the cause of the program, he got immersed in it and began to enjoy the activities. He further said that being a volunteering exercise without pay, people began to wonder how he was committed to it so much. But then it was about what he enjoyed doing and not what he was getting from it. The volunteering program provide him an opportunity for self-development as he became a better public speaker, and an environmental consciousness and climate solutions advocate even without a background in environmental studies. Outside the volunteering program, the team lead, Ms Oluwaseyi Ebenezer was always available to attend to his issues and would go any length to see that he found a solution. That gave him a sense of belonging and made him an important member of the team. With all these, he had got more than he envisaged when joining.

• ADEWUMI IDOWU PAUL in his experience stated that volunteering at TGED Foundation has helped him a lot. As a matter of fact, he won a competition on climate change related issue among his peers that even people were amazed at his excellent performance and for this he was really happy. He further thanked the CEO of TGED Foundation for the opportunity given to him

THE ADVISORIES SPEECH

• MR. STANLEY C. OKONKWO ESQ [Member] welcomed on board the new set of volunteers who are just joining us in the foundation. He said so much has been said about volunteerism and he won’t belabor all with going over that again. He further said that he wants to let everyone knows that in a few minutes, volunteering is an opportunity one should grab with both hands. He’s not in doubt that everyone who is coming on board are doing so because of the interest they have. Interest begets commitment and commitment fuels motivation. This is what they [the new volunteers] needs to function effectively in an organization like TGED Foundation. He also encouraged that volunteering is also a means of learning. So as the new volunteers gives their efforts, he also wants them to be self-aware enough as to remember to take something too as this means an opportunity for the volunteers to learn. He further disclosed that he can categorically tell that the CEO of one of the biggest NGOs in Ekiti State who was one time an SA to the wife of the governor on Civil Society Organizations began as a volunteer in the NGO where he worked. He said he can also tell that the person who heads the office where he left came into the organization as a volunteer. So therefore, there are diverse opportunities, and which can lead one to begin a career in the field of development. Thus, he urged everyone to give their best and remember to learn also. He welcomed them once again and he believed joining the foundation will foster and record a lot of progress.

• MR OMOJOLA ODUNAYO [Chairman] 

In his speech stated that; As we reflect on the significance of volunteerism in environmental development, it is essential to recognize the power of individuals coming together for a common cause. Whether it’s planting trees, cleaning up beaches, or advocating for policy change, each act of volunteerism contributes to the larger movement towards environmental stewardship. Volunteerism is not merely about giving back; it is about empowerment. It empowers individuals to make a tangible difference in their communities and beyond. It empowers communities to take ownership of their environmental challenges and work towards solutions. And it empowers societies to envision a future where harmony between humanity and nature is not just a possibility but a reality.

In a world grappling with environmental challenges of unprecedented magnitude, the role of volunteers cannot be overstated. Your unwavering commitment, passion, and dedication serve as the cornerstone of our collective efforts to safeguard our planet for future generations. The Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation stands as a testament to the power of collective action and the transformative potential of volunteerism. From organizing tree-planting initiatives to spearheading community clean-up drives, our volunteers have been at the forefront of driving positive change in their local communities and beyond. Moreover, volunteerism transcends boundaries and unites people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives. It fosters collaboration, understanding, and empathy, essential ingredients for addressing complex environmental issues that know no borders.

In closing, he urge each and everyone to recommit themselves to the noble cause of environmental development. Whether through volunteering their time, spreading awareness, or advocating for policy change, your contributions matter more than you know. Together, let us continue to be the guardians of our planet, the stewards of our future, and the architects of a world where nature thrives, and all life flourishes.

CLOSING REMARKS FORM THE CEO DESK

• MS. OLUWASEYI EBENEZER in her closing remarks welcome and congratulate the new inducted volunteers. She also appreciates all existing team members, volunteers, advisory committee, and the moderator. She proceeded by urging all the new volunteers to be active and be of good conduct in each department they find themselves. She also pushed forward that anyone who has a program or idea in mind should feel free to share it and incase of any interesting program anyone has in mind regardless of their destination they should always table it and if its something the organization can take upon herself to organized or support, it will surely be done. She also asked everyone to make sure they follow the foundation social media handle, like, retweet the foundation post and anytime they are sharing the foundation’s content on their social media, they should always tag our handles. She further stated her contact details will be sent to the group and anyone who has anything to discuss with her is free to get across to her but only on relevant matters. She also said that she will ask for the advisory permission to have their contact details send to the group also. She also stated that a reshuffle will be done after 6month and any volunteers who are not active will be removed so in other to avoid that, she urged everyone to participate. She welcomed everyone once again as she closed her speech by giving rooms for contribution and questions.

QUESTIONS

• Tomilola Akin-Fasae asked if there will be any room for physical appearance or all activities will be conducted via online. 
• The Program Manager of TGED Foundation [Miss Adeleye Adeola] responded that for those that are within the jurisdiction [Ekiti State], the need for a physical appearance will surely be involved but for those that stays outside Ado-Ekiti, their meeting time will be via virtual meeting.
• Mrs Blessing Taiwo appreciates the opportunity given to all the volunteers and also asked if the recording of the meeting will be shared after the program for the sake of those that joined late and those that were unable to attend the program due to one or two hinderance and that program manager gave her response by saying YES. The recording will surely be sent to the group after the program.
