Climate change education remains a strong tool in the fight against climate change. The knowledge of this environmental menace will help people of our communities especially students to be aware of climate change and to make plans and measures on how to fight its challenges. In line with this, TGED Foundation embarked on her Eco Savers School Project (ESSP), which was aimed at sensitizing students on climate change, its causes, impacts and ways on how to fight it. Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation was at fountain international secondary school Ado-Ekiti on the 23rd of June, 2022 to begin the program. The major aim of the program was to help raise awareness among these students about climate change and how they too can join in the unending fight and help combat the climate crisis.
Among the highlights of the program was a presentation on climate change by a member of Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation, which was centered on climatic problems facing our world today and ways we can avoid it and also strategies on how to help make our environment a healthy and safer place for us and our future generations. In his presentation, he explained what climate change is, and the degree of damage it has caused in our world today. He further urged the students to come together and help protect the earth from such problems.
Next was a question and answer session, this session was more of an interaction between the students, and most of the students suggested that people should adopt the use of solar energy so as to reduce the rate of carbon emissions into our atmosphere. The program ended with a practical by the students which involves the upcycling of plastic materials into a beautiful flower. Finally, In order to win the fight against climate change, we must change how we treat our environment, for what we do today remains a product of what our future generations would face.
