Climate change has been the biggest threat facing our planet for over centuries, and the need to combat climate change and ensure young people, especially students from schools , skills needed to fight climate change. Climate change education has been a strong tool in the fight against climate change and it is more important now than ever. Understanding climate change, the causes and effects of is the first step in creating new strategies of reducing its impact, and adapting to its unavoidable effects.
In order to make the fight against climate change more effective, TGED FOUNDATION launched her Eco Savers School Project (ESSP), which was targeted at educating young school children on climate change. The foundation was at Olaoluwa Muslim Grammer School Ado- Ekiti on the 24th of June 2022 to commence the program. The primary aim of the program was to help educate students about climate change and how they can join in the fight against the climate crisis. The knowledge of this environmental menace will help school children to understand and tackle the effects of global warming, and encourage them to change their attitude towards the environment .
The highlight of the program was a presentation on climate change by a staff of triple green environmental development foundation , in his presentation he explained what climate change is, it’s causes , effects and solutions,he further added by encouraging the students to be more careful in the ways at which they throwaway their wastes, this is because wastes such as organic wastes can be useful if converted into organic manure .
Next was a practical which involves the recycling of plastics into a well decorated flower, and also an interview of some students on matters concerning climate change. The students gave a brief explanation of climate change and advised the public to be mindful of how they cut down trees and look for other ways in disposing wastes.
As global warming continues to rise, life on earth becomes under threat, man must ensure that ways are put together to help fight climate change and to make our planet habitable for ourselves and our future generations.
