There is a growing need for climate change education amongst students in our environment. Climate change education is indeed an important tool in the fight against climate change , and also I am helping the future generation enjoy a better and habitable environment.
Climate change education remains a strong tool in enlightening people, especially school children on climate change, its causes, effects and measures on how to prevent and reduce its negative impacts in our environment.
In line with this, TGED FOUNDATION continued her Eco Savers School Project (ESSP), by visiting Mary Immaculate Girls Secondary school on the 12th October 2022 . The program was targeted at educating the students on climate change, its causes, effects, and measures of preventing it.
The program began with a brief presentation on climate change by the team lead, who encouraged the girls to be mindful of the things they do and ensure that they adopt environmentally friendly habits which are aimed at helping to improve the environment in different ways. She also asked for their feedback because TGED had earlier in the year around March 2022 been in their school to commemorate International Women’s Days and climate change presentation was to the school. The TGED team was so happy from the feedback they got from the students and the fact that the students remembered vividly the presentation and other discussions discussed that day.
After the presentation, one of the TGED ESSP team gave the students more explanation on climate change, and how they can become key players in the fight against climate change and global warming. After the presentation, the students were engaged in an upcycling practical which involved the use of plastics to create flower vases.
After the practical, the students representative stood on behalf of the students to thank TGED for creating and enlightening them on environmental matters, the students promised to be more mindful of how they treat their environment. The program was attended by 50 students from different classes.
