TGED Foundation, a championing environmental sustainability, embarked on a significant journey marked by a courtesy visit to the esteemed National Emergency Standard Regulations and Enforcement Agency (NESREA) Ekiti State Office. This pivotal meeting epitomized our unwavering commitment to fostering collaborative partnerships aimed at ushering in a greener and more sustainable future for all.
Acknowledgement of Partners:
The CEO of TGED Foundation Ms Oluwaseyi Ebenezer in a gesture of gratitude extended heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Toroni Abosede, the State Coordinator of NESREA Ekiti State Office, and her dedicated team. The CEO commended their steadfast support and unwavering commitment, recognizing their instrumental in propelling the shared vision of environmental sustainability forward. Looking ahead to the year 2024, the CEO expressed eagerness for continued collaboration and joint initiatives to dive positive change and make a lasting impact on the environment.
Mrs Toroni Abosede, the State Coordinator NESREA graciously acknowledged TGED Foundation for their outstanding contributions towards achieving environmental sustainability and their commendable efforts over the years. She emphasized that the foundation stands out as one of the exemplary NGOs in the environmental sphere in the state, displaying unwavering passion and dedication to environmental causes. Mrs abosede expressed appreciation for the fruitful partnership established over time and expressed hope for its continued success and growth in future.
Presentation Highlights:
Ms. Adeleye Adeola, the Program Manager of TGED Foundation, delivered a presentation elucidating the foundation’s crafted action plan for the calendar year 2024.
Noteworthy highlights included:
1. Commemoration of International Women’s Day 2024: An event to commemorate the International Women’s Day 2024 is slated to be held at St Thomas Secondary School, Ado-Ekiti, aimed at empowering and celebrating women’s contributions to environmental sustainability. Also included in the said program is an educative teaching about “sustainable public health presentation and a practical session on reusable pads
2. Observance of World Water Day 2024: A transformative initiative scheduled to take place in Irasa, featuring an innovative “End Open Defecation Campaign” designed to raise awareness about the perils of open defecation and its adverse impact on health, environment and water quality.
3. World Health Day 2024 A program envisioned to be conducted in healthcare facilities, with a primary focus on enlightening healthcare practitioners about the intricate nexus between environmental hygiene and public health outcomes. This can also be transferred to their patent during a talk-out session with them.
Discussion including World Environment Day 2024, World Earth Day 2024, World Clean-Up Day 2024, ESSP Teachers Training, Eco Club Creation, Forest Day Commemoration, Climate Action Workshop, and Waste to Wealth Exhibition.
Mrs. Toroni Abosede also mentioned that the NESREA Ekiti State Office also has a proposed plan for the year including the environmental commemorating days which is currently pending approval from the higher authorities. Upon approval, the program’s details will be communicated to TGED Foundation.
Suggestions:
Mrs. Toroni Abosede proffered invaluable suggestions aimed at enriching our collaborative endeavors. Notably, she advocated for the inclusion of the Bureau of Community Communication and environmental sanitation agencies [the Health Workers] in our outreach efforts, emphasizing their pivotal role in grassroots engagement and dissemination of crucial information.
