Climate change is a critical global issue that profoundly impacts our environment, ecosystems, and future generations. The most vulnerable populations are experiencing the impacts of climate change, which magnify inequalities and require solutions addressing underlying and overlapping vulnerabilities. Understanding climate change goes beyond grasping global warming; teaching about this crisis allows young people to discuss social justice, world issues, and explore personal beliefs and values through critical thinking.

Educating the young ones will motivate the younger generations to take action. When equipped with knowledge, they can become agents of change in their community, advocating for sustainable practices, raising awareness, and driving positive environmental actions. The foundation recognizes that educating young children on climate change issues will help them understand its impacts on their future and develop the skills and knowledge needed to create a sustainable future. It will also empower children to take action and become responsible global citizens. Therefore, TGED Foundation continues its ESSP initiative, targeting private primary schools in Ado-Ekiti to achieve a healthy and sustainable environment by educating pupils on climate change.

The ESSP team educates the students on climate change, how fast it’s happening and the dangers it poses to us and the generations yet unborn. They were also educated on the need to act to be in check as now is the time.

It was an interesting session all through the program and the students were excited to gain a whole lot of new knowledge. They also expressed their desire to be agents of change in their homes and communities.
