COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (ONSITE – ADO-EKITI)
TGED Foundation is seeking a passionate and skilled Communications Officer to join our growing team in Ado-Ekiti. This role is ideal for a creative communicator who is deeply interested in environmental sustainability, advocacy, and community-driven development.
The Communications Officer will play a central role in shaping how TGED’s work is told, seen, and understood by the public, partners, donors, and stakeholders. You will be responsible for documenting our programs, strengthening our brand identity, and ensuring our stories inspire action and impact.
Key Responsibilities
As Communications Officer, you will:
- Develop and implement effective communication strategies for TGED’s programs, campaigns, and initiatives.
- Produce high-quality written content including press releases, reports, newsletters, website articles, speeches, and social media captions.
- Manage and grow TGED’s social media platforms with consistent, engaging, and impactful messaging.
- Document TGED’s activities through photography, short videos, and compelling field stories.
- Strengthen and maintain TGED’s brand identity across all communication channels.
- Support visibility for advocacy campaigns, events, community engagements, and projects.
- Create and manage a communications calendar to ensure timely content planning and delivery.
- Coordinate media relations, press coverage, interviews, and public engagements.
- Participate in field activities and community programs to accurately capture and communicate TGED’s work.
- Demonstrate commitment to TGED’s mission and willingness to work long-term with the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, or digital communications.
- Experience working with NGOs or in the development sector is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in writing, storytelling, and content development for public or digital audiences.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong writing and storytelling skills.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Experience in communications, media, public relations, or related fields.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
- Creativity, professionalism, and strong attention to detail.
- Basic video editing and graphic design skills will be an added advantage.
